When you plan out how to make a website, there’s one very, very important step that is simply part of the process when results matter to you. This step, search engine optimization, a.k.a. SEO, usually happens right alongside the rest of the website creation process.
Learning how to make a website is a big feat. It’s worth it for those who are interested, but actually making it happen from start to finish takes quite a bit of time, energy, and effort. We’ve covered many of the steps of how to make a website—everything from planning the project, to hosting, to registering a domain name, and everyone’s favorite step—the website design process. That leaves us at step 5—actually programming the site so it works in the real world.
We just launched a brand new, and long overdue website for one of our favorite bands, The Jealous Sound. We took over web hosting, gave them a completely custom new look anchored around their upcoming album's artwork, and fully customized Wordpress so they can keep the entire site fresh and updated themselves.

We recently launched a new website for Dataray, Inc. (Redding, California). It's simple, clean and streamlined interface, but with very complex and custom functionality that offers their customers everything they need with a user-friendly experience.

When thinking about how to make a website, it’s safe to say that 9 out of 10 times most people just jump right in and start with the design—the graphical look and feel part of the overall website project. It’s the design that gets people excited and motivated about making a website. And this is a good thing!
We just launched a new website for Heart O The Mountain winery and vineyard out of Scotts Valley, California (located in the Santa Cruz Mountains). Take a visit of their new online home at www.heartothemountain.com - and a glass of Pinot probably wouldn't hurt during the tour, right?
Welcome back to our intro series on how to make a website. In previous installments, we’ve taken a look at what it takes to get started making your new website and the basics of registering your domain name. Today, we’re going to cover the next important step in the process—establishing and setting up your web hosting.
Time Spent Driving is a local and successful Santa Cruz indie/rock band that originally existed from 1999-2003. Well, they recently reformed for 2012 and you know what that means: Time for a new site! We designed a custom new look & feel, all new code, and hooked it all into our custom Sleepless CMS. We also tied it in to every band-related social network and music outlet under the sun.
Visit the new site online at www.timespentdriving.com and have a listen to their tunes while you're there.
We recently launched a brand new website for Soif, by far one of the best local restaurants in the entire Santa Cruz County area. We received the new look & feel from their graphic designer and coded it all out using our standard search-engine-friendly prowess. From there, we went ahead and implemented Sleepless CMS so they can update the entire website quickly and easily themselves - from anywhere, anytime. To top it all off, we also set them up with all new email and web hosting services on our Sleepless Hosting server platform.
Visit their new site (and most definitely their actual restaurant) at www.soifwine.com.
We're excited about what the new year has in store for us. There are a lot of new and exciting projects brewing. Thank you to all of our clients for another great year, and here's to 2012!

"I wanted my site to feature my artwork. The paintings are what you are supposed to see, not fancy technology and not text. A certain mood is created. Jon designed the logo out of my own art and absolutely captured the essence.
The technology on my site is the back door through which I can easily make changes myself and that is very important to me. I can change the featured paintings, the galleries, update my bio and calendar, etc. The result is a web site that is uniquely mine.
Jon is a master at both technology and making the site look good. It's not easy to find a firm with both qualities. All our dealings were over the internet. He is fast and easy to work with."
